Sales & Operations Intern - Summer 2017

The Opportunity:

We are looking for talented people who are passionate about customer experience, technology and problem-solving to join our Sales team this Summer (2017) as an intern for VenueBook.  You will be supporting cross-functional efforts to identify key prospect opportunities for a sales conversation, while coordinating with Sales and Account Management to assist in adding to our client portfolio. This role will live interact mostly on the Sales and Operations side of the business.

The successful candidate will have hustle, drive and tenacity. Must have "killer instinct" as in loves the thrill of the chase and the rush of closing a big sale.

Position is based in our NYC HQ in the fun Soho neighborhood. Please note this is an unpaid internship, but we do support internships for college credit.

Main Responsibility:

  • Researching various online sources to identify new sales prospects for the venue portfolio
  • Canvassing specific neighborhoods for new venues, obtaining basic information and contacts
  • Providing feedback to the VP of Sales and Operations on trends happening in the events industry
  • Having initial discussions with venues to introduce VenueBook and setting up times to meet with an Account Executive


Additional Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and auditing current tools to ensure accuracy of Sales prospects and current clients
  • Support Director (s) & VP(s) in client research and reach out
  • Identify improvements for existing process
  • Ad-hoc data analysis
  • Interact cross functionally with other interns to understand all aspects of the business

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in (or graduated from) a 4-year BA/BS program, in any major, at a university in the United States
  • Have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Academic excellence and high intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to commit at least 10 weeks, on a full or part-time basis, during Summer 2017

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong interest sales and relationship building with key accounts. Additional interest in hospitality and technology, a plus
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate an ambiguous environment
  • Excellent analytical skills and a desire to recognize and solve business problems
  • Be at least a rising sophomore, with an expected graduation date between December 2018 and June 2019
